Send from Alias in Office 365

Microsoft added support to send from alias address in Office 365/Microsoft 365. However, the Send as Alias feature will only work for Exchange Online mailboxes and does not work for Exchange on-premises mailboxes. This article will show how to enable Send from Alias feature in the Microsoft 365 tenant. Also, how to send email as alias in Outlook and Outlook on the web.

Why Alias

Consider a situation where an organization had multiple domains and departments or an administration unit handling two or more merged companies. What if all the emails targeted to these areas needed to be collected in a single mailbox and it was a great challenge? With an alias introduction, it had been made possible. 

Enabling Send as Alias Using PowerShell:

Follow the below given steps to enable email sending from proxy address.

Connect-ExchangeOnline

Set-OrganizationConfig -SendFromAliasEnabled $True

 

To verify, if the send as alias feature is enabled,

Get-OrganizationConfig| ft SendFromAliasEnabled
